296 Hampton Road - Post Office Box 1776, Southampton, New York 11969
Phone: 631-283-3195
Fax: 631.204.0711

Year Founded: 1983
The Peconic Land Trust was established in 1983 to conserve Long Island's working farms and natural lands. Since its inception the nonprofit Trust has worked with landowners, communities, municipalities, partner organizations, and donors to protect over 10,000 acres of land on Long Island. A common misconception is that the Trust receives monies raised through the 2% real estate transfer tax. That is incorrect. The Trust's funding comes primarily through donations from the public. The Trust's professional staff conducts research and planning to identify and implement alternatives to outright development. While working to conserve the productive farms, watersheds, woodlands, and beachfront of Long Island, the Trust is also protecting the unique rural heritage and natural resources of the region. Throughout the year, the Trust hosts a wide variety of educational and recreational activities that connect people with the natural environment, while introducing the general public to its work throughout the East End of Long Island. The Trust has Stewardship centers in Cutchogue, Bridgehampton and Amagansett and its Main Office is in Southampton. Education & Outreach Coordinator: Kathy Kennedy
